How to download videos from Netflix on Android, iPhone and iPad
Netflix Is one of the most popular online services for the simplicity of its proposal: an ever larger catalog of movies, series and documentaries that you can see without advertising on any device.
But without internet connection, Netflix is inaccessible, since it is a streaming service. That is why it is essential to have an offline mode in case you lose the connection or do not want to deplete your 3G / 4G data plan if you want to watch a movie or series on a mobile device, such as a tablet or a smartphone.
The latest versions of Netflix for iOS and Android have the function of downloading videos from your catalog on your device so you can view them when you do not have a connection. Let’s see how it works.
Download videos on Netflix from iPhone and iPad
If you are an iPhone or iPad user, to download videos on Netflix the requirements are to have a version of iOS 8 or higher, the latest version of Netflix for that version of iOS and, of course, internet access. Another detail is that you have enough space to save the video in the memory of your iPhone / iPad, to be able to be several gigs.
While not all titles are available (usually those not produced directly by Netflix) the list of movies and series to download is broad. You will see that it is downloadable if you show a download button in the corresponding tab, both the movie and each of the chapters of a series.
After clicking the download button and depending on the speed of your connection, the titles will be displayed in the My downloads section.
The process is simple and relatively fast. As a single added, you can select the quality of the downloaded video so you can see it in HD or SD. Keep in mind that the higher quality, the more space it will take and the longer it will take to download.
To configure it, go to Settings> Downloads> Video Quality and check Standard or High.
Once you have seen a video, you have the option to delete it from the same section My downloads by clicking on Edit and marking the video or videos you have already watched.
Download videos on Netflix from Android
If your tablet or smartphone has Android as an operating system and you want to watch Netflix videos on the way to work or school or when you’re offline at home, the process is relatively similar to iPhone / iPad.
The main requirement is to have Android 4.4.2 minimum (the usual version on Android tablets), internet connection and the most current version of Netflix for your version of Android. And of course, enough space on your device or in its default in the installed SD memory.
The download is as simple as clicking the download button on the tab of a movie or each chapter of a series. And to select video quality (standard, SD, or high, HD) you need to go to Menu> Settings> Downloads> Video Quality.
By default, videos are stored in the main memory of the Android smartphone or tablet, usually with little space. So if you want to take advantage of the SD memory you will have to go to Menu> Settings> Downloads> Download location and choose the folder or drive where to save the videos.
Once you’ve seen a Netflix title, you have the option to delete it from the app itself. In particular, clicking on Edit and marking the videos to be deleted.
